Green Square

Green Square is a fast-growing urban redevelopment area which includes the suburbs of Waterloo, Zetland, Beaconsfield and parts of Alexandria and Rosebery. The City of Sydney is working on priority projects to ensure development and growth in the Green Square area is matched with quality community facilities, open space and parks, and transport connections.

We have dedicated $440 million over the next 10 years to new community facilities - a new library and plaza, cultural facilities, a new aquatic centre,  open spaces and parks.

As these projects come to life we want to hear from you in their design and implementation. Help shape the future of Green Square - register for updates on opportunities to have your say.

For general information on Green Square you can visit the City of Sydney's website and for the latest community news, check out the Green Square community hub at greensquarehub.com. • New drainage infrastructure for Green Square

Our first major infrastructure project in Green Square is a new stormwater drainage system to be built in partnership with Sydney Water. The system will mitigate the risk of flooding through the town centre, with a new culvert running 2.5 kilometres from Epsom Park through the Green Square town centre, before connecting to the Alexandra Canal.

It is envisaged that the construction of the culvert (full length) will be completed by 2017. Sydney Water will be notifying property owners and conducting site and geotechnical investigations from January 2014. Visit the Sydney Water website.
